Anita Sue Peel Huffman, loving wife of Charles “Buck” Vernon Huffman since 1964, entered her heavenly home on Wednesday, November 4, 2020.  Sue was born June 3, 1945 in Jessamine County to the late Burch and Anna Louise Lowry Peel.  She attended college to become a teacher, but instead chose to become a stay-at-home mother.  And an excellent mother she was, mothering not only their 3 daughters, but also their friends and classmates, whom she loved as her own.  She served as a homeroom mother and volunteered in her daughters’ classrooms, often leaving a note on the chalkboard for the class when she left, much to their delight!  Sue had a knack for crafts and was very creative--she taught and guided her daughters well.  She was an avid reader and loved crocheting, quilting, and sewing.  Her goal was to make an afghan for each of her grandchildren, and even though she didn’t get to complete that goal, they all knew how very much she loved and cared for them. Sue’s caring and giving nature led her to volunteer at Nicholasville Baptist Church for many years as the Sunday School Attendant and in the church office.  More recently she was a faithful attender of Crosswoods Baptist Church.  In addition to Sue’s beloved husband Buck, she leaves a treasure of memories with daughters April Williams, Stephanie Garrison, and Holly Pryse, husband Billy; grandchildren Victoria McFarland, husband Justin, Alexandria Harris, Casey Williams, Matthews Williams, wife Braylen, Shaylin Pryse, Delaney Perkins, husband Blaine, Camryn Pryse, and Keaton Pryse; and great grandchildren Dayton Williams, Brantley Williams, and Hagen Perkins; as well as several nieces and nephews including Shante Birchum, husband Rick, and Greg Estes, to whom she was especially close. Besides her parents, Sue was preceded in death by a dear sister, Carolyn Estes.  Sue’s family will honor her with a Remembrance Service 1:00 PM Tuesday, November 10, at Crosswoods Baptist Church, following which she will be laid to rest at Maple Grove Cemetery.  Serving as pallbearers are Casey Williams, Matthew Williams, Keaton Pryse, Justin McFarland, Blaine Perkins, and Rickey Birchum.  The family will greet friends at the church Monday, November 9, beginning at 3:00 PM and ending at 700 PM. In keeping with COVID precautions, the family requests that all visitors please wear masks.  “You’ll never forget your mother’s face, the sound of her voice, the stories she told, the lessons she taught. . . They are her gift and your legacy.”  Hager & Cundiff values nothing more than the trust placed in us to care for Sue and her family.
