February 03, 1933 - August 28, 2016
The patriarch of the Riester family went home to join the love of his life Vivian Florence Kestrel Riester and his Savior on Sunday August 28. Arvill Riester was a native of Jessamine County born Feb. 3, 1933, to the late Karl and Addie Collins Riester. A life long farmer he raised tobacco, dairy cattle, and worked hard to take care of his family. He loved collecting many types of items which gave him the pleasure of remembering the past. Arvill was a member of the Mt Pleasant Baptist Church where he was a former Deacon. He leaves to cherish his memories daughters Debra Caye Wallace and Phyllis Bowling, husband Eric Hopkins, and son Jeff Riester, wife Kim, grandchildren Jason Stott, wife Jessica, Aaron and Elaine Stott, Traci Bowling Ackerman, Justin and Jacob Riester, and Tyler Young, 8 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild, as well as nieces and nephews and extended family members. He was preceded in death by sisters Cassie Brandenburg and Betty Jean Sparks, brother Gary Lee Riester, and grandson Douglas Clay Bowling. A Graveside Memorial will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, Sept 1, in Bluegrass Memorial Gardens. A donation to Hospice of the Bluegrass in his memory would be appreciated by his family. Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home is honored to serve the Riester family.
