Nicholasville: Ben W. Tate, 81, of Logana Rd., died Tues., June 12, at the VA Hospice Care Center. A native of Jessamine County he was born Oct. 18, 1925, to the late Ben and Bessie Warren Tate. Ben was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church and the Masonic Lodge . He was a retired employee of Mayflower Transit Co. and was an avid gardener. He is survived by his wife of 13 years Patsy Davis Tate, 2 sons Kenneth Tate and wife Nancy and Ben Michael Tate, a daughter Betty Jo Tate, all of Lexington, 5 step children, a sister Louise Bailey, LaGrange, 2 granddaughters, 11 step grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, 7 step great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 38 years Sally Kelly Tate and a brother LeRoy Tate.

Services will be 1:00 PM Friday, June 15, at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home with Rev. Dan Barnes and Rev. Ed Scwartz officiating, burial in Bluegrass Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be family members. Visitation will be Thurs., June 14 from 4 to 8 PM at the Funeral Home. Donations may be made in his memory to the Jessamine County Humane Society.
