Benny ‘Ben’ Michael Thorpe, 50, of Homestead Dr. died Sunday, Nov. 6, at his home. He was a native of Hazard, KY born Oct. 16, 1961, to Sam Thorpe and the late Patricia Ann Mercer Thorpe. He was a former employee of McKechinie. His caring extended to many friends and family members who all have special fond memories of what he meant to each one of them. His passion was Harley Davidson motorcycles. In addition to his father he is survived by daughters Samantha Gross and Sarah Lay, husband Joshua, a special nephew that he raised as a son Steven Tyler Locker, stepchildren Amy Callaway and Chassity Locker, sisters Carolyn Whitehead, husband Estill, Debbie Hall, and Phyllis Redmond, husband Jerry, grandchildren Courtney and Hunter Gross and Braxton Smith, step grandchildren James Colton and Benjamin Chase Calloway, Cierra Dawn Locker, Kayden James McClean, Austin Barnett, and Brendon Lee Locker as well as many nieces and nephews.

Graveside Service will be 12:00 noon at Maple Grove Cemetery with Rev. Benny Baker officiating. Honoring him as pallbearers will be Jerry and Jay Redmond, Jason and Johnny Mercer, Paul Stacey, Joshua and Buddy Whitehead, Tyler Locker, and L. A. Reyes. Honorary bearers will be Donald Howell and Sanford Caudill. The family will receive friends at the funeral home at 11:30 until time for service at Maple Grove.
