Nicholasville: Betty Jean Murphy Hart, 73, of Barberry Lane, died Wed., May 21, at St. Joseph Hospital. A native of Jessamine County she was born Nov. 10, 1934, to the late James William ‘Bus’ and Alice Turner Murphy. She was the widow of Jack Neil Hart who died in 2003. Betty was retired from Winn Dixie where she managed the deli, was a member of New Hope Fellowship Church, Eastern Star, and Daughters of the Nile. She enjoyed flower gardening, cooking and her grandchildren. She is survived by her daughters Karen Patterson, husband Richard Peterson, and Kay Kirsch, husband Donnie Potter, 2 sisters Aline Heider and Geneva M. Hall, grandsons Neal Patterson and Damien Hart, wife Sabrina, great grandchildren Landon and Tyra Hart, special friends Bob Lipinski and Kibbie Kidwell, her constant companion Alice Shook who lived with the family for 30 years, and her beloved pets Buddy and Prissy.
Services will be 12:30 PM Tues., May 27, at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home with Rev. Ron Riley officiating. She will be laid to rest with her husband at Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Richard Peterson, Neil Patterson, Lyman Blakeman, Jr., Donnie Potter, Roger Kidwell, and Cape Anderson. Honorary bearers will be Ken Morton and Bob Lipinski. Visitation will be 4 to 8 PM Mon., May 26, at the funeral home. Contributions may be made in her memory to the Shriners Hospital.
