Betty Jo Tipton
Betty Jo Franklin Tipton was born March 1, 1935, in Cynthiana, Ky and was promoted to Heaven on December 29, 2018. She was preceded in death by her parents – Jesse and Violet Franklin, and three brothers, Grover, Frank, and Charlie Franklin. Also was preceded by her husband of 61 years, Donald Tipton. She is survived by her children – Terry Tipton and Melody Tipton of Wilmore, Ky. Also survived by three grandchildren – Heather (Kevin) Naylor, Jassen Tipton, and Joe (Jamie) Tipton, and six great-grandchildren – Haydon Trent, Karigan Naylor, Anistyn Naylor, Gavin Tipton, Abby Tipton and Canon Tipton as well as her sister Anna Bell Garrison.
Known as “Mamaw,” she worked for 31 years at the Wilmore Day Care Center and in providing childcare in her home. She also served as a volunteer at the Wilmore Community Center during her retirement years. She was an active member of the Wilmore United Methodist Church and frequent guest of the First Christian Church of Monticello. She was known by all as a model of what it means to serve others. Her entire life was focused on serving God and loving others. “To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.” Her Remembrance Service will be 1:00 PM Thursday, Jan. 3, 2019, at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in Wilmore Cemetery following the Service. Honoring her as pallbearers will be Terry Tipton, Craig Gillispie, Larry Cross, Larry Franklin, Kevin Naylor, and Joe Tipton. Her family will greet friends beginning at 11:00 AM on Thursday prior to the Service. Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home is honored to care for the Tipton family.
