Buford Lunsford

Buford Lunsford, 88, husband of Linda Fay Malone Lunsford for 55 years, died at his home on Wednesday, June 20. He was a native of Wilmore born March 9, 1924, to the late Nelson and Fannie Alcorn Lunsford.

Buford was a US Army veteran retired employee of Bluegrass Army Depot, had worked for the Jessamine County Board of Education in security at West Jessamine High School, former taxi driver, Baptist Church minister and a member of the Truth and Faith Church of God. He loved people and always was glad to see visitors. He had a special place in his heart for children and they loved him. He was quick with a joke and loved drawing others into the middle of them. He was devoted to sharing his faith with all who touched his life.

In addition to his wife he is survived by children Ruby Higgins, Shirley Dixon, and Donnie Lunsford, 12 grandchildren Shannon and Jennifer Richmond, Amy, Christopher, Michael, Stephen and Brandon Lunsford, Stephanie King, Kevin Stinnett, Ryan and Michael Donald Lunsford, 10 great grand children Taylor and Chase Richmond, Erin Mitchell, Darrien Hawkins, Madison and Alisia Lunsford, Tatiyana Garica, Gabrielle and Jasmine King and Tyler Lunsford, and a sister Marie Baker. He was preceded in death by 2 sons Lee and Danny Lunsford, daughter Linda Marie Lunsford, grandson Brian Lunsford, 7 brothers, and a sister.

A Remembrance Ceremony will be 2:00 PM Saturday, June 23 at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home with Brother Kenny King officiating. He will be laid to rest in Blue Grass Memorial Gardens. Honoring him as pallbearers will be Shannon Richmond, Kevin Stinnett, Stephen, Brandon, Michael and Donald Lunsford. The family will receive friends from 5 PM to 9 PM on Friday, June 22, at the funeral home.
