Cox’ Creek: Carmen Brumfield Shawler, 78, passed away Thursday at her home. A native of Jessamine County she was the daughter of the late Buford and Sarah Jane Sanders Brumfield. Carmen was a former caregiver, homemaker and a member of Cox’s Creek Baptist Church. Survivors include a daughter Ruby Everitt, Berea, 3 sons Edward, Tony, both of Cox’s Creek, and Lanny Shawler, Manitou, Ky., 3 sisters Mildred Walker, Nicholasville, Meredith Owens, Wilmore, and Ann Glass, Georgetown, step sister Neva Allison, Ohio, brother W. T. Brumfield, Nicholasville, 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. She was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Moss, Oakley, and Merritt Brumfield, 2 sisters Lovie Craig and Ruby Hager, stepbrother and sisters Mennon, Edward, Paul, Mary Lou and Beatrice Sanders.

Services will be 11 AM Mon. at Cox’ Creek Baptist Church with graveside service at 3:30 PM at the Sanders Family Cemetery, Taylor Ridge Road, Nicholasville. Contributions may be made in her memory to the Cox’s Creek Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 600 Fairfield Rd, Cox’s Creek, Ky. 40013 or to the Sanders Family Cemetery Fund, W.T. Brumfield, 117 Hillcrest Ave., Nicholasville, Ky 40356. Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home was selected for local arrangements.
