Charles "Chuck" Dees

Charles "Chuck" Dees husband of Betty Dees for 70 years entered into eternal rest on Monday Oct. 7, at Wesley Village in Wilmore, Kentucky. A native of Lockport, KY in Henry County he was born Feb. 19, 1923, to the late Byron and Lourine Thomas Dees. He was a member of Lockport Methodist Church, a Kentucky Colonel, member of Gratz Masonic Lodge for 60 years and of the Wilmore Masonic Lodge for 50 years as well as a past member of Shanty Hill Sportsman Club. Chuck was the oldest of three children having a sister Ruth Goote and his brother Russell who preceded him in death. He was a US Army Veteran was stationed in Ireland, where he met his wife, and later in Germany. Having grown up in a small town located at Lock #2, when he returned home he began his career working for the Corp of Engineers at various docks on the Kentucky River and later became the Lockmaster at Lock #7 in High Bridge where he was for 22 years before retiring after a 30 year career and later was employed by the State of Kentucky supervising between several Locks. Chuck was the loving father to a son Byron W. "Butch" Dees who preceded him in death and to daughters Bobbie Jean Johnson, husband Mike and Bebe Collins, husband Charles the adoring grandfather of Julie Johnson, Shannon Johnson, Jefferey Dees wife Amanda, Jason Dees, wife Christa, Martha Scarberry, and Jennifer Wilson, husband John, and great grandfather to the lights of his life Aidan Dees, Jenna Scarberry, and Harper Wilson. He also leaves to cherish his memory a daughter-in-law Lynne King, and husband Gene as well as many nieces and nephews. A Service of Remembrance will be at 11:00 AM Thurs., Oct. 10, at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home and he will be laid to rest in the Dutch Tract Cemetery at 2:30 PM on Thursday, 1548 Ditto Cemetery Rd., Pleasureville, KY. Honoring him as pallbearers will be Mike Thomas, Charles Russell Goote, Allen Collins, Rusty Houp, Jefferey Dees, and Jason Dees. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4 to 8 PM on Wednesday, with a Masonic Service to be held at 7:00 PM. Flowers are welcome but the family suggest donations in his honor be made to Wesley Village Employee Lounge.
