A limb has fallen from the Underwood family tree. On Feb 8, 2025, Charles “Chuck” Underwood, widower of Marcella, joined her in eternal rest while at his home surrounded by his family.  Chuck was a native of Jessamine County born August 24, 1931 to the late Roas and Myrtle Purvis Underwood. He was a US Air Force Veteran and a member of the Jessamine Christian Church and the 452 Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Union. He loved fishing, gardening, and was known as the “fixer-up” man to family and friends. He was always eager to fix lawn mowers, weed eaters, and many other items that were requested.  He leaves fond memories with his children Juanita Ditty, husband Jack, Lisa Kim Tabor, Deana Underwood, Beth Underwood, husband Randall Combs, Wesley Underwood, wife Trisha, as well as 13 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, a sister-in-law Mary Underwood, and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members. He will be met at that wonderful place at the river by brothers Hardin and Alvin Underwood, sisters Ruby Hager and Martha Perry, daughter Penni Underwood and granddaughter Julie Ditty Qualls.  A Remembrance Service will be held Thursday Feb. 13, 11:30 AM at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home with Rev. Phil Richardson officiating. Following, he will be laid to rest with his wife in Camp Nelson National Cemetery with Military Honors. Honoring him as pallbearers will be Ken Walton, Mauri Wilcoxson, Roy Butcher, Randall Combs, Chris Geldhof, Mark Underwood, Wesley Underwood, and Jerry Underwood. Honorary bearers will be Kaiden Geldhof, Katelyn Geldhof, Ashton Combs, Karen Hager, Stacey Underwood, Jack Underwood, Hillary Tabor, Len Underwood, and Cara Bauley.  The family will greet friends on Wednesday Feb. 12, beginning at 6:00 PM and ending at 8:00 PM at the Funeral Home.   “Remember me in your heart, your thoughts and memories. For if you always think of me, I will never have gone.”  All arrangements are under the direction of Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home, and we would like to express our deepest sympathy to the Underwood family and friends.
