Clayton Eugene "Gene" "Pops" Welch, 70, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 5, at the University of Kentucky Hospital. He was a native of Jessamine County, born April 24, 1943, to the late George William and Geneva Nina Humes Welch.

He leaves to cherish his memory his children William Gene "Genie Boy" Welch, wife Sheila, Debbie Welch Burdine, fiancé Michael Brock, Jr., Steven Welch,companion Gina Williamson, George Welch wife Jamie, Jeff Stamper, Billie Jean Morales Locker, Johnny Clay Locker, Jerry Locker wife Sasha, Shelia Locker and Clayton Locker, 29 grandchildren, Troy, Brook, Heather, Steven, Riley, Leondra, Billy, Amy, Tyler, Julio, Maria, Noe, CiCi, Cody, William, Alyssa, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Coda, Elijah, Zoe, Bently, Savannah, Catalina, Ruben, Daniela, Serenity, Makayla, Xavier, Keleigh, he was pre-deceased by one grandchild Raynee Lackay. brothers Romeo "Buddy" Welch, wife Sissy, Billy Welch, wife Trish, Paul Wayne Welch and Johnny Welch wife Jenny, sisters Barbara Allen Morton, husband Harvey and Brenda June Hay, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Pops had many special friends and was always ready to help any of them. The family would like to express their Thanks to Melissa Potter and Billy "Bear" Welch & Michael Brock Jr. for all the help during his illness.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until time of Graveside Service to be held at Maple Grove Cemetery at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, Nov. 12. Please sign our guestbook.
