Daniel Kinnell, 66, of Wilmore, passed into eternal life on December 17, 2018, after a long illness. Dan was born July 24, 1952, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late James and Sylvia (Aho) Kinnell. He will be fondly remembered by his loving wife Melanie Hindman, whom he married on August 6, 1977. Dan attended Wilmore Free Methodist Church. He taught Spanish at Mt. Carmel High School in Breathitt County and at Asbury University in Wilmore, passionately introducing young people to the “heavenly language“. He was an accomplished pianist and organist, having taught lessons for many years and played in the Mt. Carmel Church and in the Burgin United Methodist Church. In his later years Dan became and avid gardener, loved adult coloring books and was a fan of both UK basketball and football. In addition to his parents Dan was preceded in death by a brother David. He will be missed by son Matt, wife Amy of Wilmore, daughter Bethany of Nicholasville, brother Ron in Colorado, sister Mary in North Carolina, and grandchildren A.J., Essie, and Chloe, A Remembrance Service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, Dec. 21, in the Wilmore Free Methodist Church with a private family burial to follow in the Wilmore Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be A.J. Kinnell, Roland Fowler, Randy Beasley, Jerry Beasley, Dan Miller, and J.R. Winkler. Dan's family will greet friends at the Church on Thursday starting at 4:00 PM and ending at 8:00 PM. Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home is honored to serve the Kinnell family.
