Danny R. Thompson, 76, loving husband of Carolyn Thompson for 53 years, entered into eternal rest on Friday Nov. 24, 2023 at the VA Hospital. Danny was the devoted son of the late Fred and Thelma Lane Thompson born Nov 4, 1947 in Jessamine County. He was a US Army veteran, having served in the Vietnam War and a retired employee of LexMark, where he worked in the World Trade Export department. Danny was an avid fisherman, loved horse racing at Keeneland and was always anxious to jump on his riding mower to mow the yard— in other words, being outdoors is where he wanted to spend time. In addition to his wife Carolyn, he leaves precious memories with his daughter Cynthia and her husband Jordan Anderson and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members . There will be a Graveside Service with Military Honors at Camp Nelson National Cemetery on Thursday Nov. 30, at 1:30 PM officiated by Rev. Gary Toney. For those who would like to go to the Cemetery, a Funeral Procession will leave the Funeral Home on Thursday at 1:00 PM. Pallbearers will be Jordan Anderson, Steve Travis, Todd Gayhart, Randy Travis, Mark Travis, and Logan Gayhartt. Honorary bearers will be the Rooster Crew. Danny’s family will greet friends on Wednesday, Nov. 29, beginning at 3:00 PM and ending at 8:00 PM at the Funeral Home. Donations may be made in his memory to the Wounded WarriorProject(.woundedwariorproject.org) “Good friends are hard to find, and impossible to forget.” Hager & Cundiff values nothing more than the loyalty and trust given to us by Danny’s family to care for his arrangements.
