David Lavin Barker

David Lavin Barker, 80, husband to Vivian McCann Barker for 56 years left his earthly home on Sunday, Feb. 22. He was a native of Athens, KY born March 26, 1934, to the late David Lloyd and Katherine Lavin Barker. David had been a resident of Thomson Hood Veterans Center for several years, he was a Kentucky Colonel, a past realtor for Dampier Real Estate, was retired office manager for the Thoroughbred Times, and had also been an office manager for PinOak Horse Farm as well as several other farms in Central Kentucky and was instrumental in helping out at PaxChristi Catholic Church. He was a veteran of the US Army. Two things David relished was a round of golf at the Meadowbrook Golf Course and a good ink pen both of which create excitement for him. He leaves his memories with his daughter Denise, grandsons Deven Barker and Michael Burus, sister Carolyn Gray, brother William "Billy" Barker wife Doris, special friends Bert Newton, Joan Webb and Fred and Patsy Vester. He was preceded in death by daughters Dawn Barker and Devina Burus. A Service of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, March 2, at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home with Father Larry Hehmam officiating, He will be laid to rest beside his daughter Dawn in Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4 to 8 PM on Monday. Donations may be made in his memory to Central Kentucky Regional Humane Society, 214 Richmond St., Lancaster, KY 40444.
