David Allen Dunaway

David Allen Dunaway, 67, left his earthly home on Sunday, March 13. David was a native of Garrard County born Dec. 16, 1948, to the late Virgil C., Sr. and Lida Ellen Lyons Dunaway. He was a former plumber for Dunaway Plumbing, an avid UK sports fan and in earlier times enjoyed fishing. As of late he loved sitting on his front porch with a good cup of coffee, his cigarettes, Skeeter (the special pet he referred to as his son) beside him, and one of his neighbors to chat with. He leaves to cherish his memories children Jennifer Lynn Dunaway Miller, husband Rusty, Nancy Dunaway Eckler, husband Bill, Barbara Dunaway Burton, husband Timothy, Ina, Jamie and David Hurd and Roger Dunaway, grandchildren Michael and Jeremy Haney, Melissa McKinney, Heather Richmond, Rusti Miller, Travis Burton, Bobby Dunaway, and Jenny Burton, as well as great grandchildren Jersey Marie Haney, Audrey Pettyjohn, Hayden and Haleigh Miller, Bentley McKinney, McKenzie Burton, Justice, Berry, and Amaya Richmond, Derek Richmond, as well as Satana, Cruise, Seth, David, Jr., Madison, James Jr. Kasey, Megan,Marie, and Bill. David was part of a large family of brothers and sisters. Those surviving him are Bobby L. Dunaway, wife Linda, Mildred Brown, Billy J. Dunaway, wife Dinah, Freddy Dunaway, wife Ima, Virgil Dunaway, Jr. wife Brenda, Gary Dunaway, wife Nan, and William Dunaway, wife Lisa, in addition to a host of nieces, nephews, and numerous other family members. He was preceded in death by granddaughter Destiny Marie Haney, brothers James and wife Louise Dunaway, Johnny and wife Toni Dunaway, sisters Doris and husband T Harrison, Sarah and husband Eugene Sloan, and Imogene and husband Bill Gill. A Remembrance Service will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, March 17, at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest in Bluegrass Memorial Gardens. Honoring him as pallbearers will be Michael and Jeremy Haney, Travis Burton, Rusty Miller, David Hurd, and Bobby Dunaway. The family will greet friends from 4 to 8 PM on Wednesday, March 16, at the funeral home and after 11:00 AM on the day of Service. Flowers are welcome but if you are inclined to, donations may be made to Hospice of the Bluegrass in his memory. .
