David Lee Gayhart, 71, loving husband of Ana Maria “May” Gayhart for 31 years, left his earthly home on Saturday, Nov. 26, 2022. David was the most loving, caring, generous, thoughtful, and the funniest person you would ever meet.  He was best described as always being willing to accommodate other people’s needs and ready to help family and friends. What a big heart he had!  He was a native of Wilmore, born Sept. 25,1951, to the late William and Mary Alice Crowe Gayhart, being one of their 9 children.  David was a US Army veteran who served in the Vietnam War. After returning home he became the Area Manager for AT&T, was an employee of Crane Distribution, was in sales for PCA Marketing, was Project Manager/Owner for 21st Century Homes, and owned Scores Restaurant in Lexington. His favorite activity after retirement was traveling with his wife, trying new places to eat, attending the horse races, as well as visiting different casinos.  In addition to his wife he will be fondly remembered by his brothers Steve, wife Margaret, Kenny, and Roger, sisters Carolyn Willhoite, husband Jimmy, and Lois Wright, nieces and nephews Todd Gayhart, Logan Gayhart, Andi-Len Gayhart, Madison Gayhart, Stacy Underwood, Susan Hickey, Jeff and Greg Long, and Kim Gayhart  as well as many other extended family members and friends.  David was preceded in death by brothers Ray and Mike Gayhart, sister Patricia Long, and her husband Harold..

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday12:00 Noon Dec.2, 2022, at St. Luke Catholic Church, with burial to follow at 1:30 PM in Camp Nelson National Cemetery with Military Honors.  His family will greet friends from 4 to 8 PM on Thursday, Dec. 1, at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home. Serving the family as Pallbearers will be Todd Gayhart, Logan Gayhart, Mark Nicholas, Joe Joe Descallar, Jericho Des and Benjamin Hickey.   “His life was a blessing, his memory a treasure, he was loved beyond words and will be missed beyond measure.”  Hager  & Cundiff Funeral Home values nothing more than the trust and loyalty given to us by the Gayhart family to care for David’s arrangements.
