David Stewart Switzer, 9l, widower of Beverly Mattox Switzer and Wilma Juett Switzer, left his earthly home on Sunday, Nov. 10, 2024. David had been a resident of Thomason-Hood Veterans Center for several years. He was born Aug. 31, 1933, to the late Virgil and Lucille Reynolds Switzer, being one of their eight children. David was a life-long farmer and worked for many farmers in Jessamine County; he loved to fish and play cards. He will be missed by his children Jeff Switzer, wife Susabeth, Kathy Bradley, Carey “Tag” Switzer, Shawn Johnson, husband Bruce, step-children Jeff Brown and Dana Bowling and his grandchildren Channing Hazelton-Able, Susan Switzer, Courtney Able, Leighann Switzer, Hallie Beaty, and John Bradley III, as well as great- grandchildren Jaelyn Norvel, Whitney Abel, Brynlee Abel and Levi Herman. He leaves his childhood memories with his brothers and sisters Bobby Switzer, wife Jody, Joe Switzer, Mary Margaret Roser, and Linda Switzer, and numerous nieces and nephews and extended family members. He will be greeted at the river by his parents, wife, brother Kenneth Ray Switzer, sisters Joann Wade, and Elizabeth Nicholson and grandson Zackery Vanover.
A Service of Remembrance will be held 11:30 AM Monday Nov. 18,Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home with Chaplin Philip Majcher officiating. He will be laid to rest in Camp Nelson National Cemetery following the Service. Honoring him as pallbearers will be Robert Waits, Marlin Waits, Rodney Switzer, Thad Switzer, Bryan Roser, and John Mays. Honorary bearers will be Jeff Carroll and Giles Evans. His family will greet friends on Sunday, Nov. 17, at the funeral home beginning at 2:00 and ending at 6:00. “Thank you for your gracious gift…the blessing of my farm.” All arrangements are under the direction of Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home and we would like to express our deepest Sympathy to the Switzer family and friends.
