Donald "Duck" Ray Barnes

Donald “Duck” Ray Barnes, 70, father of Elijah Barnes and Courtney Ray Meadows, left his earthly home on Monday, September 6, 2021. He was born March 1, 1951, to the late Leroy and Jewell Cuzick Barnes and lived all his life in Jessamine, where he farmed and broke horses and was a talented farrier.  He also was very mechanically adept and could run all types of equipment, as well as do repair work on them.  He was a US Army veteran, having served from 1971 to 1973.  In addition to his 2 children and daughter-in-law Cassie Barnes,  he will be remembered by Elijah’s mother Janet Bell Vice and Courtney’s mother Sharon Begley, his sister Nancy Barnes and many other extend family members.  He was preceded in death by a son Billy Ray Barnes and a brother Danny Barnes. Cremation was chosen by the family according to Duck's wishes and  the inurnment  will take place at Camp Nelson Nation Cemetery on Tuesday Sept. 14, at 2;30 PM.  The family requests donations be made in his memory to Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home to assist them with his arrangements.  Hager & Cundiff values nothing more than the trust placed in us by the Barnes Family.
