Wilmore: Doren Sims, 33, of Lowry Lane, son of Larry and Rethia Sims died Sunday at St. Joseph Hospital. A native of Jessamine County he was born May 26, 1973. He was a graduate of Jessamine County High School and Asbury College obtaining a degree in Broadcast Communications and began working for Channel 36 TV in Lexington. During his high school and college years he was an employee of McDonalds in Nicholasville. In 1995, Doren represented Asbury College in The Atlantic Olympic Games in 1996. He voluntarily helped his uncle and aunt in establishing a grocery store. He was currently an employee of Macy’s Department Store.
In addition to his parents he is survived by his twin brother Gilben, a his sister Shalah Sukay Olson and huband John all of Wilmore, niece Kyrstin Paige Olson, and nephews Jordan Tre` Sims and Hunter Lee along with his paternal uncles Byron Sims, Charles Sims, and aunt Mary K. Sims Perkins, his maternal uncle Sam Insko and aunt Marilyn Insko Brown and his cousins.
Services will be 1:00 PM Thursday at Wilmore United Methodist Church, burial in Bluegrass Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Gilben Sims, John Olson, Tre` Sims, Wayne Vice and Larry Sims. Honorary bearers will be Al Narah and James Owens. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 PM Wednesday at Hager and Cundiff Funeral Home and from 11:00 AM until time of Service at the Church. Donations may be made in his memory to All God’s Children, Nicholasville or to AA Pregnancy Help Center, Lexington.
