Nicholasville: Dorothy Pemberton Dean Hager, 90, widow of William Lyman Hager, Sr. died Thurs. May 27, at St. Joseph Hospital. A native of Jessamine County she was born July 14, 1919, to the late Sherman Dean Sr. and Margaret Griffing Dean. She was a graduate of Nicholasville High School and of the University of Kentucky where she earned her degree in social work. Dorothy was also a member of the Little Hickman Christian Church, past President and member of Oak Hill Homemakers and a very acitve member of the community. She was very interested in genealogy and antiques. Survivors include 2 sons William Lyman Hager, Jr., wife Jackie Banahan and Gary Dean Hager wife Janice McKenney, 3 grandchildren Caroline, Jared, and Benjamin Hager, sisters in law Elizabeth ‘Litty’ Dean and Marie Preston, brother in law Vernon ‘Buddy’ Hager, wife Polly, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother Sherman Dean, Jr.
Services will be 1:00 PM Tues. June 1, at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home with Rev. Lee Baltzer, burial in Maple Grove Cemetery. Her sons and grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be Mon. May 31, from 5 to 9 PM and on Tues. from 11:00 AM until time of service. Contributions may be made in her memory to the Little Hickman Christian Church.
