Wilmore: Dorothy Alexander McMillen, 79, died Sunday, June 25, at her home. A native of Louisville, Ky. she was born Sept. 19, 1926 to the late Ova and Connie Goff Alexander. She was a graduate of Asbury College, the University of Kentucky and received her Rank I from Georgetown College. She started her teaching career at Nonesuch later moving to Wilmore Elementary where she taught fourth grade and later became the librarian in which she continued to substitute for many years after her retirement. Dorothy was a past president of the Wilmore Lioness Club, was active in the Jessamine County Retired Teacher Association, the Homemakers Club and a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
Survivors include her husband of 55 years David Lee McMillen, a daughter Connie Lee Bandy and husband Michael, 2 sons Michael ‘Mike’ Alexander McMillen, and Joseph Timothy ‘Tim’ McMillen and wife Bari Kay all of Wilmore, a sister Marian Jones and husband Bob, TN., 3 brothers Bill Alexander, Jim Alexander and wife Margaret both of Louisville, and Joe Alexander and wife Mary Jane, Maine, 4 grandchildren Alyson Merrell and husband David, CA., Christopher Bandy, Wilmore, Timberly McMillen Kidwell and husband Curt, Wilmore, and Stephanie Deaton, Mt. Vernon, 2 great grandchildren McKayla and Micah Kidwell and 2 step great grandchildren Stephan and David. She was preceded in death by a son David Dana McMillen, in 199l, his wife Judith in 2006, and a sister Helen VanMeter.
Services will be held 1:00 PM Wed, June 28, at the Wilmore Presbyterian Church with Rev. Kathy Riley officiating, burial in Versailles Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Charles Hahn, Danny Hogue, Mike Johnson, Rippy Woodard, Johnny Drury, and Mitchell Dunn. Honorary bearers will be Cecil Zwefiel Tom Harper, Winston Smith, Bill Carroll, and Dot Reed. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 PM Tues., June 27, at HAGER & CUNDIFF FUNERAL HOME, W.
