Dorothy “Dot” Thompson, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2024, at 96. Born on March 21, 1928 in Lexington, KY.to Lucas and Ruby Fathergill. Dot lived a full and vibrant life. She married the love of her life, Harry ‘Sut’ Thompson, on July 31,1948, and together they raised three children: Connie Williams, husband Roy, Mike Thompson, wife Francine and Ricky Thompson. Throughout her life, Dot was a dedicated homemaker, passionate about the outdoors, had a love for horses and   enjoyed gardening, canning vegetables, and maintaining her flower beds. She was known to work in her garden well into her 90’s and loved to mow her yard. In addition to gardening and horseback riding, Dot found joy in creating quilts during the cooler months, making these treasured gifts for her family. She and Sut were local business owners of Thompson and Shearer Farm Supply for over 20 years. She was also an active member of several community clubs which include the Jessamine County Cattle Association, Town and Country Homemakers Club, Jessamine County Antique Farm Machinery Association, the Jessamine County Sportsman Club, and a member of Nicholasville Baptist Church. She enjoyed traveling and fishing.  Above all, Dot's life was defined by her love and care for her family. Survivors include her three children, seven grandchildren: Steven Williams, wife Shiloh, Tracy Day, husband Donald II, Troy Williams, wife Breann, Michael Thompson, wife Melissa, Lindsay Thompson, Erin Thompson, and Matthew Thompson, and over 16 great-grandchildren. She was especially close to her first granddaughter Tracy Day and her life-long friend Maggie Taylor who helped Tracy take care of her as she aged. The family would like to extend a special ‘Thanks’ to the staff at the Willows in Harrodsburg, Ky. The family will greet friends at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home on Friday, January 3, beginning at 10:00AM until time of service at 1:00PM. She will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband ‘Sut” in Maple Grove Cemetery, Nicholasville. Pallbearers will be Steven Williams, Troy Williams, Michael Thompson, Matthew Thompson, Trey Day, Tyler Day, and Bryce Williams. Honorary pallbearers are Wade Fathergill, Donald Day II and Maggie Taylor. Dot will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her. Her legacy of love, strength, and kindness will live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her. “You will never forget your mother’s face, the sound of her voice, or the gentleness of her touch: they let you know you were loved” This obituary was lovingly submitted by the family.
