Douglas Brown Burton, 79, loving husband of Shirley Burton for 53 years, entered into eternal rest Monday, Jan. 4. A native of Lawrenceburg, one of 8 children born March 5, 1936, to the late Evan and Bertha Burton. He was a retired employee of the Lexington Housing Authority. His favorite pastime was going for a ride with Shirley after work to different parts of Jessamine County driving until dark then stopping to eat before going home. In later years they enjoyed sitting on their porch and watching the traffic. In addition to his wife he leaves his legacy with children Harold L. Thomas, Debbie Daniels, husband Harold, Jr., Tammy Adkins, husband Lee, Margaret Marie Sims, Robert James Yates, wife Sandy, 11 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, brother Carl Burton, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers Charlie, Steve,Rudy and Dale and sisters Cheryl and Beverly. His Remembrance Service will be 1:00 PM Thursday, Jan. 7, at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home with Pastor John Ritchie officiating. The family will receive friends on Wed., Jan 6, from 4 to 8 PM.
