Nicholasville: Earl Edwin Hall, 91, husband of Charlotte Graybill Hall, died Monday, March 24, 2014, at his home. Born on November 30, 1922, in Shelby County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Hartwell Hall and Lucy Poe Hall. He was the much-loved dad of Sue Hall Hill (Gerry); Sonny Hall (Tina); Bill Hall (Cindy) Patrice Hall Thompson (C.B.); Kathy Hall Blankenship (Chuck); and preceded in death by a daughter, Janet Hall Clem (Les). He was the loved older brother of three sisters Margaret Hall Ellis, Mae Hall Peniston, and Shirley Hall Brown. In addition to his children and sisters, he loved and was proud of his fourteen grandchildren, their families and great-great grandchildren. Three grandchildren Les Clem, Jr., Alicia Hall, and Jennifer Hall preceded him in death. Earl worked with his dad on the farm following high school and joined Kentucky Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Company in 1949 where he worked until his retirement. Earl and Charlotte moved to Nicholasville in 1959 where he quickly became involved in community service. Chosen "Outstanding Jessamine County Man" of 1968 for his work in organizing Little League baseball teams for boys in Jessamine County, he also helped organize the Minor League and Connie Mack League for eight to eighteen year old boys. As president of the board of directors for the Jessamine County Recreation Club, known as Lone Oak Country Club, he helped to obtain a federal grant for construction of an 18-hole golf course and swimming pool in Nicholasville. His family, work with Kentucky Farm Bureau, coaching baseball, community service and Lone Oak Country Club were his passions. He loved the game of golf, a day on the golf course with his golf buddies was always a good day for Earl. He was honored last year with a lifetime membership and a stone bench in his honor on the 8th tee box of the golf course inscribed "Earl Hall-The Arnold Palmer of Lone Oak Country Club". Earl and Charlotte were high school sweethearts and celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary last June surrounded by their family. Visitation will be Thursday, March 27 from 11:00AM until 1:00 PM at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home in Nicholasville, followed by a private service and burial for the family.
