Eddie Ray Davis, 68, loving husband of Donna Sponcil Davis for 48 years, father of Jason, wife Shari, and Poppy of Nathan Davis, entered into eternal rest on Sunday Sept. 9. He was a native of Lexington, but a life long resident of Jessamine County, born May 5, 1950, to the late Ray and Esther Hager Davis. Eddie Ray loved horses and was a member of the Kentucky Walking Horse Association and the American Hackney Association, a farmer, and was happiest when swapping and trading, “working a deal”. He was a former employee of the City of Nicholasville Planning and Zoning. He and Donna attended Roberts Chapel United Methodist. A Remembrance Service will be at 1:00 PM Thursday, Sept. 13, at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home with Adam Moss and Bryan Hester officiating. He will be laid to rest in Maple Grove Cemetery. Honoring him as pallbearers will be Adam Moss, Scott Bowman, Will Moss, Rodney Moss, Bill Floyd, Jonathan Smith, Billy Teater, Bryan Hester, and Nathan Davis. Honorary bearers will be his Hardee’s friends. The Davis family will greet friends on Wednesday, Sept. 12, starting at 4:00 PM and ending at 8:00 PM. A special thanks to the East Jessamine Jag football family for their love and support. Donations may be made in his memory to the Roberts Chapel United Methodist Church. Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home is honored to serve the Davis family. “Grief is the last act of love we have to give to those we loved. Where there is deep grief, there was great love”.
