Edward Harrison Peel

December 11, 1921 — November 9, 2017

A limb has fallen from the Peel family tree. Edward Harrison Peel, 95, father of William Franklin Peel, wife Ruth Ann, Louis Edward Peel, wife Darlene and the late Nelson Ray Peel left his earthly home on Thursday, Nov. 9.  He was a life long resident of Jessamine County, born Dec. 11, 1921, to the late James William “J.W.” and Vernie Leger Peel.  He was the widower of Edna Mae Walker Peel who entered into eternal rest in 1990.  Ed loved to farm raising tobacco, hay, and cattle.  He had a talent for weaving cane chair bottoms and making knives.   Being a family person Ed raised 3 of his grandchildren and 3 nieces, in addition to spending time with his family he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He is survived by 10 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren a a host of nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death not only by a son but sisters Nancy Peel and Lucy Frances Reynolds and brothers James William Peel, Jr., Jack Peel, and Sherman Peel, Sr.  A Service of Remembrance will be 11:00 AM on Tuesday, Nov. 14, at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home.  He will be laid to rest beside his wife in Maple Grove Cemetery following the service.  Honoring him as pallbearers will be his grandsons Beau Spicer, Jr., Joseph Spicer, Nathaniel Spicer, Steven Maggard, Chris Cobb, and Jason Peel.  Honorary bearers will be Rebecca Maggard and Melissa Marie Conn.  His family will greet friends starting at 5:00PM and ending at 8:00PM on Monday, Nov. 13, at the funeral home.  Hager & Cundiff is proud to serve the Peel family. “Remember the best times, the laughter, and the good life I lived while I was strong”.
