Elaina Mae Smith

Elaina Mae Smith, 44, left her earthly home on Thursday, July 29, 2021 at Good Samaritan Hospital.  She was born on November 1, 1976 in Lexington, KY.  Elaina was a gifted and loving child who excelled at school, helped care for her grandmother Melvina, traveled with a Christian choir, and enjoyed writing poetry and letters to God.  She was a National Merit Scholar in high school, as well as a skilled basketball player, dance team member, and clarinet player in the band.  As an adult, she enjoyed amusement parks, fishing with her fiancé Chris, the music of Luke Bryan, and all kinds of hot sauce.  Elaina leaves precious memories with her mother Regina Smith, three children, Jakey Dean Smith, Caitlin Smith Blevins, husband Austin, and Caleb Smith, her sister Christy Privett, husband Michael, her brother Steven Michael Smith, her loving fiancé Chris Lyons and his children including Broncey Lyons and Brittany Baker, and her beloved dog Diesel (who was described as a long-haired chihuahua who thinks he’s a bulldog!). Elaina’s family will honor her with a Remembrance Memorial Service at 6:30 PM on Wednesday, Aug. 4, at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home.  They will greet friends on Wednesday beginning at 5:00 PM until service time.  “If there ever comes a day where we can’t be together, keep me in your heart.  I’ll stay there forever.” Hager & Cundiff values nothing more than the trust placed in us to care for Elaina and her family.
