Elizabeth Jane “Mur” Ward, 80, left her earthly home Saturday, Nov. 4, after an extended illness. She was a native of New York born April 18, 1937, to the late Nathaniel and Katherine Olive Bean Lott. She was a homemaker and the backbone of her family. “Mur” as she was known by many, was always willing to take in others and treat them as she would her own. She loved to cook and could put together a feast at a moment’s notice. “Mur” was a member the True Gospel Tabernacle Church. She leaves her memories with her children Elizabeth Ward, Arthur Ward, Penny Frederick, husband Danny and Clyde Ward, their father Arthur Ward, grandchildren Frances “Frankie” Hampton, husband Jeff, Billie Sue Mulcahy, husband Danny, James Ward, Samantha Pike, Arty Pike, Sabrina Pike, Danny Frederick, Jr. and Jimmy Frederick, as well as 15 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews, who affectionally referred to her as Aunt Betty. She was preceded in death by a son James Ward, great grandson Jacob Mulcahy, brother Nathaniel Lott and sister Virginia “Sally” Ferrieri. A Remembrance Service will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, Nov. 9, at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home. The family will greet friends on Wednesday, Nov. 8, starting at 4:00 PM and ending at 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Her family would like to express their thanks to Amanda Rigney for the care and love she gave to their mother for the past several years. Cremation was planned in accordance with their Mother’s wishes and will take place after her Service. She always wanted to keep an eye on the family so now she is watching from Heaven’s window and leaning from Heaven’s gate in order to keep up her watch. Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home is proud to serve the Ward family.
