Ernest R. DeMoss, 85, loving husband for 60 years of Dolores Deaton DeMoss, left his earthly home on his birthday March 15, 2016 at the St. Joseph Hospice Care Center. He was a native of Scott County born March 15, 1931, to the late Aron and Elizabeth Amy Turner DeMoss. Ernie was a dedicated family man, a life long farmer from generations of farmers, member of the Jessamine County Beef Cattle Association, the Nicholasville Planning and Zoning Commission, and the Jessamine Christian Church. He was also a Kentucky Colonel. In addition to his wife he leaves to cherish his memories children Darlene Kay DeMoss, husband David Hale, Ernie Wayne DeMoss, wife Debbie, Susan Williams, husband Ernest, and Karen DeMoss, husband Michael Campbell, grandchildren C.D. Williams, wife Megan, Michael Williams, Sarah Fry, husband Trent, Aaron DeMoss, Ali DeMoss-Campbell, Madison Campbell, Matthew DeMoss-Hale and Iva DeMoss-Hale, great grandchildren Chase Williams, Vayden and Landen Fry. From a family of five children, Ernie is survived by 2 sisters Ida Mae Durham and Ellen Pinkston and is preceded in death by brothers David and Thomas DeMoss. He will be greatly missed by his dog and best friend KoKo. His Remembrance Service will be 11:00 AM Saturday, March 19, at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home, and he will be laid to rest in Lexington Cemetery. Honoring him as pallbearers will be C.D. Williams, Michael Williams, Aaron DeMoss, Matthew DeMoss-Hale, Trent Fry, and David Aaron DeMoss. His family will greet friends from 4 to 8 PM on Friday, March 18, at the funeral home. Donations may be made in his memory to the Jessamine Christian Church. Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home is honored to help the DeMoss family with the planning of Ernie's Remembrance Service.
