The matriarch of the Lowry family Eva Lowry, 88, joined her husband Lester, who died in 1992, in eternal rest on Saturday, Sept 12, while in the St. Joseph Hospice Care Center.  Eva was one of 5 children born to  to the late Abijah “Bige”  and Stella Moore Collins. She was born Sept. 15, 1931, in Cumberland Gap, as she referred to her birth place “on a mountain” in the eastern part of Kentucky.  She was raised in the era of the Depression and was brought up to be thrifty, work hard and to use what she had with care, to garden and can what she raised, which she did until 3 years ago.  She was an awesome housekeeper and cook, which meant when you came to her house you were fed before you left.  Eva was of the Holiness faith and read scriptures daily.  She will be fondly remembered by her children Clyde Sawyers, wife Jeri, Doyle Sawyers, Charlotte Webb, husband Rex, David Lowry, her 12 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren, as well as her brother Bentley Collins and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son Freddie Lowry, siblings Lousana,Virginia Evans, Ira “Buddy” Edgar Collins and Ray Collins.  A Remembrance Service will be held 1:30 PM Wednesday Sept. 16 with Deacon Gary Rudemiller officiating at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home.  Her family will greet friends beginning at 11:00 AM on Wednesday until her service time at 1:30PM  Eva will be laid to rest with her husband and son Freddie in Camp Nelson Nation Cemetery with a Graveside Service at 2:30 PM. “If there ever comes a day when we can’t be together, keep me in you heart.
