Evaline Wells French, 95, widow of John French, died at the home of her daughter Sat. Jan. 29. She was formerly of Highbridge, a Jessamine County native born April 19, 1915, to the late James and Mary Nola Woods Wells. She had been a former employee of Asbury College and Seminary Cafeteria and was a member of Mt. Freedom Baptist Church. Evaline loved making quilts, working puzzles and playing bingo. She is survived by her children Carl French, wife Marcella, Betty J. Pritchett, Bobby French, wife Barbara, Judy Lively, Barbara Sue Horton, husband Richard, and Kathy Solomon, husband Reynold, 18 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son James French, daughter Patricia Ledford, brothers Lewis, Stuart, and Homer Wells, sisters Elizabeth Thornberry, and Georgia Sweeney, and sons in law Homer Pritchett and Edward Lively.

Services will be 2:00 PM Tues. Feb. 1, at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home with Rev. Ken Whitehouse and Rev. Leonard Fitch. She will be laid to rest beside her husband at Blue Grass Memorial Gardens. Honoring her as pallbearers are Keith, Larry, Robbie and Adam French, Eric Grimes, and Tom Kroes. Doug French will serve as honorary pallbearer. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 PM on Mon., Jan. 31.
