Nicholasville: Lt. Colonel George L. Williams, 76, of Woods Rd; died Tues; Sept. 3rd at the VA Medical Center. A native of Jessamine County he was born July 2nd 1931 to the late Frank and Annie Huls Williams. Colonel Williams was a retired U.S.Army Lt. Colonel, and a self employed real estate broker. He was a member of the Jessamine County Beef Cattle Association, past director for the Habitat for Humanity, a member of the VFW and the American Legion, a charter member of Pearl Harbor Commemorative Association; He was a past President of the Nicholasville Jaycees, Secretary and President of the little league Baseball when it was initially established; Past Secretary of the Jessamine County Farm Bureau , and helped establish the Jessamine County Fire Department. Colonel Williams was a graduate of the Command and General Staff College and the Industrial War College. He is survived by two daughter Karen ( Dan ) Settles, Nicholasville , Vickie Nash and companion Bob Jones and his children Chris and Dane Jones, Orlando, Florida, three grandchildren Justyn and Jarryd Settles, Nicholasville and Rylie Nash, Orlando, Fl. Special Niece, Judy Drakeford, Nicholasville; and a special caregiver Crystal Ratliff, Nicholasville. He was preceded in death by. a sister Ruth Harp, two brothers, Stanley and Roger Williams. Services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday September 7th at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home with Pastor Doug Simpson officiating,
Pallbearers will be Justyn Settles, Jarryd Settles, Vance Drakeford, Marion Williams F. C. Foley, Danny Stocker, Roger Williams, Andy Wilson Honorary pallbearer: Gene Goldey.
