Wilmore: Gladys Spicer Hazelett, 82, died Thursday at her home. She was the widow of Walter Hazelett who died 2001 and daughter of the late Calvin and Eliza Estes Spicer. Gladys was a native of McCracken County and was born Dec. 7, 1929.
She was a retired employee of Irvin Industries and had attended Missionary Church in Wilmore with her husband.
Survivors include daughters Lucille Booker husband Wilbur, Loretta Johns, Bonnie Moody husband Jerry, Alice Hazelett partner Carol Neville, Barbara Manley husband Sam, Patty Hazelett, Ruby Borquez husband George, Jennifer Boggs husband Adam, and Carol McClanahan husband Toby, a brother Conley Spicer, 19 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter Marlene Powell, 3 sisters and 2 brothers.
A Service of Remembrance will be held at 1:00 PM Monday, Nov. 5, at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home with Rev. Leonard Fitch officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in Wilmore Cemetery.
Honoring her as pallbearers will be James Clark, Gary Spicer, Haydon Trent, Travis Johns, Dalton Byrd, and Paul Perzyk. Honorary bearer will be granddaughters Darlene Frazier, Donna Perzyk, Dina Byrd, Heather Naylor, Kasi Johns, Katie Johns, Kelly Boggs, Sandra Toco.
