Gladys Sams

Nicholasville: Gladys Shea Sams, 86, widow of Robert Lee Sams, went to be with her Lord on July 18, at St. Joseph Hospice Care Center. She was born Feb. 10, 1924, to the late John and Agnes Shea, a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, and a lifetime homemaker who delighted preparing meals for family and friends. Her favorite pastime was embroidery and cross stitch of which she had many beautiful pieces. Survivors include 3 daughters Loraine King, husband Herb, Irene Jones, husband Bert, Shirlene Field, husband Tom, a son Bobby Sams, wife Kathy, all of Nicholasville, 6 grandchildren James King, Valerie Lewis, husband Virgil, Robby Vice, Rhonda Vice, Emily and Kayla Sams, 5 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a daughter Kathlene Sams and 11 brothers and sisters.

Services will be Wed. July 21, at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home with Rev. Basil Hall and Rev. DeWayne Brewer officiating, burial in Keene Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Howard Drury, Marion Williams, Wayne Taylor, Donald Shewmaker, Jimmy Vice and Patrick Berry. Honorary bearers will be the T.E.L. Sunday School Class. Visitation will be Tues. from 4 to 8 PM at the funeral home. Donations can be made in her memory to Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Building Fund.
