Gwen Henson, wife of Shelton Henson for 46 years, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, Dec. 14, at her home after an extended illness. A native of Cinco, WV born Nov 2, 1941, to the late Ted and Lucy White. She was a 1959 graduate of DuPont, High School in West Virginia and co owner of Nappa Auto Parts in Nicholasville for 25 years. In 1982 Gwen became the first woman elected to the Nicholasville City Commissioners, she was a board member of Jessamine County Hospice, a Jessamine County Chamber of Commerce member and was active in the Jessamine Jamboree for several years. In addition to her husband she leaves to cherish her memory a stepson James Shelton Henson, wife Vicki, sister Madeline Lipscomb, husband John, Campbells Creek, WV, sister-in-law Rosemary Marlowe, husband Michael, of NC, and 3 step grandchildren. She was preceded in death by sisters Lona Skiles and Joan Schempp and a brother Teddy White.
A Remembrance Celebration will be held 1:30 PM on Wednesday, Dec. 18, at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home. Her family will receive friends from 11:00 AM 1:30 PM. She will be laid to rest at Camp Nelson National Cemetery.
