Harold Elliott Prather 86, died at his home in Jessamine County Friday, Feb. 22. Harold was a native of Fayette County born July 7, 1926, to the late Blanding and Linda Burdine Prather.

Before moving to Jessamine County Harold had lived for many years on Jacks Creek Pike. Harold was a US Army veteran having served in the Philippines during WWII. He was a member of the ASC Board, Southern States Cooperative Board, the Commodity Growers Coop, the State F.S.A. Review Board, on the Burley Coop Board for 12 years, initiated the Fayette County Farm Bureau Auction whose funds are used for scholarships, member of the State Farm Bureau Policy Board, a life time member of the College of Agriculture Alumni Association, and was a Kentucky Colonel.

Harold was proud to be a farmer, his passion was tractors, tobacco, and working the land.

He is survived by his daughter Christina Burton and husband Sam, grandsons David Gordon and Nicholas Burton and granddaughter Samatha Burton, special friend Nancy Prather, nieces and a nephew. He was preceded in death by a brother J. W. Prather.

A Service of Remembrance will be held 1:00 PM Tuesday Feb. 26, at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest in Maple Grove Cemetery. Honoring him as pallbearers will be David Gordon, Bob Ball, Doug Brown, Larry Lewis, Ned Slone, Kenny Prather, and Nicholas Burton. Honorary bearers are John Tuttle, Bill Johnson, and his buddies at Hardee's and McDonald's.
