Nicholasville: Henry Clay Kirk, 97, passed away Fri., June 15, at Lexington Country Place. He was a native of Woodford County born August 27, 1909 to the late Benjamin and Allie Jo Montgomery Kirk. He was the widower of Louise Kirk who died in 2003 after 74 years of marriage. Henry had been a member of South Elkhorn Baptist Church since 1922 and had served on many committees and taught a boys class in the Junior Dept. until the early seventies he also had been active in the South Lexington Optimist Club and served as Vice President of the Boys Work in the sixties. Having worked for 35.7 years for R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company he retired in June of 1973. Survivors include several nieces and nephews , great and great-great nieces and nephews including Mary Jewett Arnsparger of Nicholasville. He was preceded in death by 4 sisters Margaret Reynolds, Annie Clift, Alice Strange and Bess Couch, 3 brothers James, Richard, and Garrett Kirk. A special thanks to his former neighbors Randy and Debra Berry, the staff at Council Oaks Assisted Living and the Hospice team Becky, Teresa, Rachele and Linda.

Services will be 10:00 AM Mon., June 18, at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home with Dr. Damon officiating, burial in Hillcrest Cemetery. Pallbearers and Honorary Pallbearers will be James ‘Bill’ Reynolds, Randy Berry, Dickie Cornish, David Reynolds, Don Hampton, Wilburn Merrick, Walter C. Strange and Jim Bishop. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 PM Sunday, June 17, at the funeral home. Donations may be made in his memory to Hospice of the Bluegrass.
