Nicholasville: Henry ‘Ray’ Miller, 84, of Short Shun Rd. died at his home after a long illness. A native of Jessamine County he was born May 24, 1923, to the late Henry and Cordia Stinnett Miller. He was an active Jessamine County farmer having proudly raised 63 tobacco crops during his farming career. He was a member of the Jessamine County Beef Cattle Association, a director of the Jessamine County Fire District Board for 30 years and had served as a deputy for the Jessamine County Sheriff Dept. for 6 years. He is survived by his wife of 65 years Mildred Graham Miller, a daughter Judy Gayle Miller and husband Charles L., Jessamine County, a granddaughter Tracy Ann Noles and husband James of Shelbyville, great granddaughter Lainey Elizabeth Noles, 2 great grandsons James Logan and Ryan Alexis Noles. He was preceded in death by a son Donald Ray Miller, 4 sisters Pansy Fain, Lillie Weissinger, Allene Burton, and Pauline Carroll, 4 brothers Ned, Virgil, Russell, and Charlie Miller.
Services will be 1:00 PM Mon., Feb. 25, at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home. He will be buried in Blue Grass Memorial Gardens with full Fire Fighter Honors as a memorial to his proud and faithful service as a District Director.
Pallbearers will be Gerald McKenney, Robert Miller, Jimmy Miller, Jerry Miller, Rusty Bowles, and Greg McKenney. Honorary bearers will be J. F. Hall, Jerry Graves, Sid East, Roy Cheek, A. G. Canter, Benny Peel, Marvin Graham, Jeff Graham, Jackie Graham, Larry Graham, and the Jessamine County Fire District Board. Visitation will be Sun., Feb. 24, from 1 until 8 PM and from 11:00 AM until time of Service on Monday at the funeral home.
