Nicholasville: Herman Darrell Johnson, 66, of Camp Daniel Boone Rd. was a native of Jessamine County born on Feb, 28, 1946, to the late Claude and Hazel Himes Johnson.
He went home to be with our Lord and Savior on Feb. 27, 2013, at the home of his daughter Carolyn after battling a long illness. He was a retired brick mason "Handyman", a dedicated fisherman for which he had a passion and loved.
He is survived by daughters Karen Lisa Williams, husband Jay, Regina Galdines, husband Philemon, Carolyn Huerta, husband Noe, and Sondra Ramirez, husband Juan, a son Kevin Lee Johnson, 22 grandchildren, 9, great grandchildren, 2 sisters Shirley Masters and Loretta Holley, special niece Jamie Callahan, his long time friend Jeanne Jorge, and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by daughter Deborah, granddaughter Brittany, brothers Johnny Himes, Curtis and Harley Johnson, and a sister Marilyn Drury. A Service of Remembrance will be held 1:00 PM Mon. March 4, at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest in the private family cemetery.
Honoring him as pallbearers will be Thomas, and Jeffery, Kenneth Crutcher III, Tim Masters, Anthony Drury, and Justice Welch. His grandchildren will be Honorary bearers. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Sat. March 2, from 5 to 9 PM and on Sun. March 3, from 2 to 6 PM.
A special Thanks is given by the family to Hospice of the Bluegrass and great nieces Tracy Cruz and Tamara Mathews.
