Hilda Rea (Knight) Merrell

Hilda R. Merrell, 92, mother of Sharon Switalski and Nancy Hutchens, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, Jan. 15.  She was born Dec. 30, 1926, a native of Mortons Gap, KY and daughter of the late Andrew and Agnes Knight.  Hilda was a retired LPN and had been a caregiver for many years.  She attended Cornerstone Baptist Church, loved her pets, doing needlework and crossword puzzles.  Having a love for playing cards, she became a well-known Bridge player in the Lexington Duplicate  Bridge Club and the Madisonville Duplicate Bridge Club.   In addition to her daughters, she is survived by Paul Daniel Merrell, the father of her children and his wife Jean Groves Merrell.  a sister Anna Ginger and her son Bill Ginger, wife Debbie, grandchildren Liesel Ryan, Taylor McNeil, Reeve and Seth Hutchens, as well as 7 great grandchildren.  “Your mother is always with you, she is the whisper of the leaves, the smell of certain foods, and she lives inside your laughter--nothing can separate you”.  Hager & Cundiff is honored to be chosen to take care of the Merrell family and will post a Service date soon.  Please check back for the time and place.
