Hollis Ray Crowe, 73, loving husband and companion to Phyllis Gayle Crowe for 56 years left his earthly home Tuesday, June 6, 2017. He was a native of Casey County born May 7, 1944, to the late Johnny Hobart and Ada Pearl Crowe. He was a retired employee of Walmart where he worked in the automotive department. Hollis liked staying at home and did what he called “backyard mechanic work”, playing with his grandchildren and great grandchildren who were the light of his life. In earlier years he was a farmer. In addition to his wife Phyllis he leave his memories with sons Les Smith, wife Angela and Hollis Ray Smith, grandchildren Shannon Smith, Brandon Smith, James Smith, Jessica Smith, Kimberly Denise Smith, and Hollis Smith, Jr., great grandchildren Jaxon Hughes, Jude Smith, Dixie Rose Peel, Serenity Faith Peel, Waylon Smith, and Weston McCracken, as well as his sisters Lois Watts, Gen Foley, Wanda Manley, and Judy Vanover. His family will honor him with a Remembrance Service at 11:00 AM Friday, June 9, at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest in Maple Grove Cemetery. Honoring him as pallbearers will be Hollis Smith, Jr., Sammy McLean, Brandon Smith, James Smith, Mark Smith, and William McLean. His family will receive friends beginning at 4:00 PM and ending at 8:00 PM on Thursday at the funeral home. “Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us every day, unseen, unheard, but near”.
