Nicholasville: Hubert Lee Caudill, 87, of Vince Rd. died Fri. March 2, at the VA Medical Center on Cooper Drive. A native of Lee County he was born Jan. 21, 1920, to the late Martin and Drusha Fletcher Caudill. Hubert and his wife of 63 years Elizabeth Lee Caudill moved to Jessamine County in 1945. He began a career in farming and selling produce in 1964. His farm produce was bought by many generations of customers from a site located on Nicholasville Road. He was a veteran of the US Army serving from 1940 to 1944 as a Staff Sgt. in the First Armored Division and was wounded in North Africa. He received the EAME and Purple Heart medals. In addition to his wife Elizabeth who now resides at Royal Manor Nursing Home, he is survived by 2 children Herbert Marshall Caudill, and his wife Martha, Nicholasville and Rita East and husband William E. Harrison, Lexington, 6 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 4 sisters and 5 brothers.
Services will be held 11:00 AM Tues., March 6, at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home with Rev. James E. Rayburn officiating, burial in Bluegrass Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Darrell Lakes, Lonnie Hale, Doyle Wayne Sawyers, Jeff Switzer, Phillip Overbee, and Marshall Caudill. Honorary pallbearer will be Richard Overbee. Visitation will be on Mon. March 5, from 4 to 8 PM. Donations may be made in his memory to the American Heart Association or to the Jessamine County Ambulance Service.
