Nicholasville: Irene Burton Jacobs, 93, of Bell Court, died Thurs. Sept. 9, at St. Joseph East Hospital. Services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, Sept 13, at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Mandrell officiating, she will be laid to rest beside her husband Raymond who died in 1981, at Maple Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers and Honorary pallbeares will be family members. Visitation will be on Sunday, Sept. 12, from 1 to 5 PM at the funeral home.

Irene was a native of Jessamine County born Jan. 7, 1917, to the late Frank and Ethel English Burton. She was retired employee of the City of Nicholasville where she worked as an assistant clerk for twenty years, a member of Nicholasville Christian Church where she attend Circle 3. Nicholasville Woman’s Club, and a graduate of Wilmore High School. Survivors include her son William M Jacobs, wife Susan S., grandchildren Elizabeth Ashton Jacobs, William M. ‘Will’ Jacobs, Jr., and Samuel Bennett Jacobs, nephews Tommie S. Burton, Raymond Allen Hager, nieces Sue Carol Reed, Marcia Lynne Wooton and Dottie Lee Broaddus, and several great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brother Worley Carter Burton and sister Murel Burton. Contributions may be made in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Association.
