Nicholasville: J. W. ‘Dub’ Hunter, 88, of Wilmore Rd., died Tues. Jan. 15, at Royal Manor Nursing Home. A native of Jessamine County he was born Oct. 13, 1919, to the late Walden and Betsy Green Hunter. He was the widower of Hester Hunter who died March of 2006. Dub was one of the founding members of the Jessamine County Saddle Club, and enjoyed helping his daughters show horses for several years, a former member of the Jessamine County Fair Board and loving the sport of hunting was a past member of the Jessamine County Sportsman Club. He was retired from Kroger where he was a butcher in the meat department. Survivors include his daughters Becky Garrett, husband David and Lucy Jackson, husband Jesse, a sister Anna Belle Roberts, a granddaughter Jenny Jackson Wiley, husband David, a grandson Bryan Jackson. He was preceded in death by a grandson Jody Garrett and a brother William Hunter.

Services will be 11:00 AM Fri., Jan. 18, at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home, entombment at Bluegrass Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Mike Hunter, David Garrett, Jesse Jackson, Bryan Jackson, Rodney Moss, Danny Moss, Jerry Lovitt, and Dwight Willis. Honorary bearers will be Johnny Drury, Eddie Lindsey, David, Jeff and Joe Switzer, June Humphrey, Billy F.House, George Brumfield, Victor Murphy, John Teater, Ricky Poor, Denton Willis, and Robert Johnson. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 PM Thurs. Jan. 17, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family request contributions be made in his memory to your favorite charity.
