Nicholasville: James Clarence Ashcraft, 66, of Harrodsburg Rd., died Tues., March 27, at the Select Specialty Hospital. A native of Jessamine County he was born Aug. 25, 1940, to the late Clarence and Irene Horn Ashcraft. He was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church. Jim was in the last graduating class of Wilmore High School, a retired employee of Clay Corman Excavating where he worked for 30 years and a member of the Jessamine County Antique Farm Machinery Club.
He is survived by his wife Julia E. Epperson Ashcraft, 3 sons Jerry Prewitt, Ted Prewitt, and Arnold Prewitt, a daughter Nancy Parvin, 4 sisters Jane Burton, Bonnie Jo Belcher, Carolyn Ashcraft, and Wanda Hensley, a brother Harry Ashcraft, and 10 grandchildren Timmy, Julie, Madison, Will, Carter, Caroline, J.T. , Justin Prewitt , Clay Cunliffe and Austin Cunliffe. He was preceded in death by a son Fenton Prewitt and a brother Bobby Ashcraft.
Services will be 1:00 PM Thurs., March 29, at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Scholar officiating, entombment will be at Bluegrass Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Butch Welch, Clay Corman, Rodney Brown, Shorty Hahn, Jack Elliott, and Curtis Poor. Honorary bearers will be the members of the Antique Farm Machinery Club.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 P.M. Wednesday,March 28 at the Funeral Home.
