James A. Davis, 89, died Sat. Feb. 12, at his home after a brief illness. A native of Lee County, Kentucky he was born Oct. 9, 1921, to the late Frank O. and Gertrude Gabbard Davis. He was a member of the St. Helen Masonic Lodge, a US Army veteran having served in WWII, was a member of the 83 Quarter Master Co in the 83 Infantry Division, and was presented with the American Theater Ribbon, and the European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with 5 Bronze SV Stars. He was in the Normandy invasion, fought in the Battle of the Bulge, as well as having served throughout Central Europe. James had resided in Cincinnati before retiring from the US Postal Service with his wife Connie Davis to whom he was married for 65 years. Additional survivors include a daughter and her husband Gail and Bernie Krimm, Nicholasville, a grandson James Bernard ‘J.B.’ Krimm, SC, a sister Eva D. Cundiff, Nicholasville, and brother Cecil O. Davis, Latonia along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside Service will be conducted by Rev. Dr. James V. Heidinger II 2:30 PM Tues., Feb. 15, at Camp Nelson National Cemetery with Military Honors. Visitation will be at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home from 12:30 PM until 2 PM. Honoring him as pallbearers will be family members.
