James William ‘Hoot’ Gibson, 71, of Blake Lane, Wilmore, died Tues., Jan. 27, at his home. A native of Highbridge he was born Oct. 23, 1937, to the late James Lee and Lucy Jane Horton Gibson. He was retired employee of Square D where he was a die setter. Hoot loved doing mechanic work and worked on cars, lawn mowers, anything that had a motor. He also was a great hand at math and could out do any calculator by using his skills. Survivors include his wife of 29 years Eileen Elson Gibson, 2 daughters Sandy Slone, husband Alonzo, Garrard County, and Debbie Gibson, Nicholasville, a son Billy Gibson, wife Kim, High Bridge, 9 step children, 2 sisters Pat Purcell husband Cecil, Ohio, and Juanita McQuerry, husband Joe, Louisville, brother Walter Gibsom wife Kathy, Ohio, 26 grandchildren, and several great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 7 brothers and sisters.
Services will be Mon., Feb. 2 at 11:30 AM at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home, with burial in Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Nate, Derrick, Jimmy, David Lee, Charles, Walt Gibson, Denny cheek, and Robert Sallee. Visitation will be 1 to 5 PM on Sun. Feb. 1.
