Nicholasville: James Robert Grubbs, 57, husband of Karen P. Donnelly Grubbs of Briarwood Drive, died Sunday, August 3, at VA Hospital on Cooper Drive. A native of Missouri he was born Nov. 1, 1950, to the late Silas James and Bonnie Chaney Grubbs. Jim was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses,Clays Mill Congregation and he and his wife owned J & K Music Emporium in Nicholasville where he made,repaired, and sold instruments. He loved Bluegrass Music and enjoyed his profession of making,repairing and selling musical instruments. He was a veteran of the US Army having served two terms during the Vietnam War. In addition to his wife of 19 years he is survived by his children Jolene, Jody, and Peggy, a step son Joshua Nathaniel Eidson, 5 brothers Gary, Randy, Lanny, Troy, and Loren, 4 sisters Wanda, Patricia, Vickey, and Melissa, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter Jessica Danielle Grubbs, 2 sons Robert and Bobby Grubbs, and 3 brothers Rickey, Edward and Larry Grubbs. The family chose Hager & Cundiff for cremation and a Memorial Services will be held 2 PM on Sat. Aug. 9, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness, 400 Kingston Road, Lexington.
