James Allen Hopkins, Sr.

James Allen Hopkins, Sr. , 43, left this earthly world returning home from work while riding his bike which was one of his passions. An unfortunate accident took a life that will be missed by the love of his life for the last 7 years Jennifer Leigh Reynolds, their daughter Maggie Lynn Hopkins, his son James A. Hopkins, Jr. and his only grandson Jayden Hopkins, step children Katie Nicole and Austin Lee Reynolds, sisters Leah and Sharol Hopkins, and Theresa Sherwood, adopted sister Jessica Mendoza, brother C.W. Hopkins, Jr. He was a native of Corpus Christi, Texas born Nov. 11, 1970, to the late Charles Ward Hopkins and Maggie Mae Whitaker. He was a dedicated NASCAR fan, and a North Carolina Tar Hill basketball enthusiast. He coached basketball for the Jessamine County Parks and Recreation for several years during which time he coached for the Suns 16 to 18 year olds. He was a dependable employee of Springhouse Apartments where he worked in maintenance. His Remembrance will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home and he will be laid to rest in Maple Grove Cemetery. Honoring him as pallbearers will be his nephews Jason and Josh Mawhorr, Calvin Burks, Kevin and Trey Woodrome and friend Jason Wilkerson. Honorary bearer will be Ronnie Wilson. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 PM on Wednesday at the Funeral Home. His family request contributions be made in his memory to help with funeral expenses.
