Wilmore: James Edward Thomas, 87, died Tues. Oct 2, at St. Joseph Hospice Care after a lengthy illness. A native of Hardin County he was born Jan. 5, 1925, to the late Hugh Sanders and Lorena Moore Thomas. He is the widower of Dora Thomas his loving wife of 64 years.
Jim was a member of Wilmore Untied Methodist Church, past Post Commander of the VFW, a Kentucky Colonel, and a decorated WWII Army veteran. He retired as Post Master of the Wilmore Post Office.
Survivors include 3 daughters Margaret Louise Curtsinger, Sandra Ruth Wilkinson, and Angie Beall Simpson, sisters Angie Beall Baker and Eva Jane Jacobs, 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by brothers Hugh and Alfred Thomas, sister Mary Louise Alcorn, and sons in law Robert Curtsinger, Joseph Wilkinson, and Michael Simpson.
A Remembrance Ceremony will be held 2:00 PM Sat. Oct. 6, at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Voight and Rev. Leonard Fitch officiating. He will be laid to rest in Wilmore Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will be on Fri. Oct. 5, from 5 to 8 PM and from noon until time of service on Sat. Oct. 6.
